The guys took the time to explain the car and take me through it. It had been a few years since I was in a car with that kind of horse power. You really get a thrill going down the straight-aways. In a Miata you’re at 105 or maybe 110 on the back straight. In the Panoz you’re running 130 miles per hour or more. I had a great time in the car.

John Phillips is an accomplished driver and mechanic. His accolades include winning A.J. Foyt Driver of the Year in 1995, 1998, and 1999. John set multiple track records in the Wheels America Spec Miata series, winning 20 races and the overall championship in 2004 and 2005. He has also won the Southwest Division SCCA National Championship in Showroom Stock B (SSB).
